There are two observations about camels I have made lately: they are incredibly smart - and horribly stupid. Why are they stupid? Well, you can fence them in with a 3 inch wide ditch! If we didn't have as much rain as we do, that would be a great way of keeping her out of our hair once in while - whenever she chases you because she thinks you have food in your pocket, all you have to do is hop across the ditch - and you're safe (she HAS figured out that she can walk around the ditch at the end...but it takes her awhile to get there....) - why is she SMART on the other hand? Well, check this out: she discovered the backdoor to my studio:

and then she discovered the secret to opening that door: (luckily she is still working on the turning the knob  part)

More recent Mona pictures - she is now used to living with us, so we allow her to roam around, but at night she has to stay in her corral...

She especially likes the "moat" that Steve built around the house. Scooter and Bonzo are guarding the bridge, to make sure she doesn't come inside the house..

Having a little afternoon snack in the field:

and while drinking out of the pond is fun, it is SO much easier when Daddy STeve squirts the water right into her mouth:

Yes, you can kiss her! her is superfriendly - and very very patient:

We discovered one "problem": visiting friends feeding her little snacks while she is out and about might not be able to get rid of her....

Here she is, checking out the little "buddha corner" in our front yard...unfortunately,  our "Family car" is a little too small, so she looks a little sad when I pile up the other dogs and leave for town...and she has to stay behind.

First pictures from the "Delivery" of our new pet camel. Welcome to the family, Mona (and yes, all the dogs love her! Pictures of that soon!)
