The first beadcamp in February (info below) was a huge success, the second one will be in September 2012... there are only a few spots left, so contact Marley Beers if you're interested... Marley is also working on a website with more detailed info and schedule.... I'll add the link as soon as she's done.
Bead Camp With Corina Tettinger! Join us in Nokomis, Florida, February 4–8, for five fun-filled days of lampworking and beach combing! Remember camp as a kid when you could stay up half the night and have fun with your friends? Well, this is “bead camp for lampworkers!” Corina Tettinger will be teaching and sharing ideas every step of the way. There will be formal demonstrations and informal “Corina time” for extra tips and experimenting. Plus lots of “me time” to play on your torch. We’ll do penance at the nearby sugar-white Venice/Nokomis beaches and maybe at a few local pubs and restaurants. Seethe CLASS DESCRIPTIONS on Corina's website to get an idea of the variety of things you'll be able to learn. At the workshop she will discuss what everybody is interested in doing and we’ll go from there. Bring your own eye protection and favorite tools. Corina will have some of her specialty tools to try and/or buy, and all the glass you need will be right here.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided and you can either go out or cook in for supper. On top of this, it is very affordable. Cost for all five days, Corina’s instruction, 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches is only $755. The space is limited to 8 people, so reserve now. The workshop will be held in Marley and Jetze Beers’ cottage in Nokomis, Florida. They bought it recently and it’s a “fixer upper” so not yet completed. The inside is fresh and newly decorated but the outside still leaves a lot to be desired. Marley and Jetze are former innkeepers and know how to take care of “campers!” Marley is a lampworker and jewelry designer. Jetze is a “host extraordinaire.” He also designs great booths if you want some tips. The workshop will be well appointed with a Mini CC torch and work space for each participant. (Bring your own torch if you prefer.) There are also metalworking tools if you want to try your hand at making up something with your gorgeous beads. The workshop space is being renovated so we do not have a photo of it yet. The cottage also has room for dining and lounging. Transportation will be provided for trips to Sun Tan Terrace, the beach, or wherever we want to go.
Since the studio area is still being remodeled for the workshops, there aren't any pictures available at the moment.....
